Hello! Welcome to the QHST Library Media
Center.
I am having a great time helping everyone here at QHST.
Please come by and let me show you what we have that may be able to help
you. I am working hard to create an inviting and challenging collection
of materials for both students and teachers. Whether you need to find a
book, do online research, work on a project, or just relax and read in a
calm place, the library is a great place to be! You can keep up to date

Library Mission Statement:
The Queens High School of Teaching Library Media Center (LMC) is
committed to supporting the school in its mission to prepare students as
leaders in their communities and productive members of a global society.
To realize these goals, the LMC works collaboratively with the
administration and staff to provide resources and resource-based
instruction that supports the curriculum and meets the diverse needs of
the student body. Instruction is designed to develop information
literate individuals who can (1) competently define their information
needs, (2) effectively access and evaluate information in a variety of
formats, (3) use information accurately and ethically, and (4) apply
knowledge in new ways. Through its quality collection of materials,
spanning all the genres, the LMC also encourages students to develop the
habit of recreational reading and strives to instill in them an
appreciation of different types of literature.

Hours of Operation:
The Library Media Center and computer lab are open Tuesday, Wednesday,
and Thursday from 8:30 to 3:30.
Here are some helpful database links you can access from home. These are
great resources to utilize for research projects.
If you need passwords, please come see me in the library. I will be
happy to help you.

It is not
just an encyclopedia. You can change languages, have words defined and
read to you, or create your own projects/timelines on the site.
Student Resources in Context:
Student
Resources In Context is an engaging online experience for those seeking
contextual information on a broad range of topics, people, places, and
events. The new solution merges Gale's authoritative reference content
with full-text magazines, academic journals, news articles, primary
source documents, images, videos, audio files and links to vetted
websites organized into a user-friendly portal experience combined with
new features such as "Search Assist" and quick fact boxes.
Grolier Online:
Grolier online offers
3 encyclopedias, current events, dictionaries, interactive maps,
newspapers from around the world, and much more.
Gale Databases:
Gale offers access to
journals, newspapers, and even popular magazines. You can search for
law, sciences, business, arts, education, current events, history, and
much more.
EBSCO Databases:
EBSCO databases offer good resources for younger searchers.
