The
Emerson Community is named after the American philosopher, essayist, and
poet Ralph Waldo Emerson. One of his sayings very fittingly describes
the community named in his honor:
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared
to what lies within us".
The teachers and staff of the Emerson Community have a commitment to
helping their students develop the academic skills, habits of mind, and
habits of work needed to navigate the complex society in which they live
and make valuable contributions to it.
We work to ensure that each and every Emersonian grows into a
self-confident, compassionate, and productive young adult. One aspect of
the Emerson community that is unique is our knack for creating
innovative programs that address the needs of our students.
Examples include the
WISE Program
, M&M,
theme-based advisories, and collaborations with outside organizations
including Young Audiences New York.
We are pioneers and always on the look-out for enriching opportunities
for our students. We are fortunate to teach your children and grateful
that you have entrusted them to us.
